On Thursday March 29th, 2018 The YWCA Tri County Area celebrated its 110th year of supporting the excellence of Women and Girls in the Tri-County area, by paying homage with their Tribute to Exceptional Women!
The YWCA Tri-County Area aims to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. They do this by educating children, youth, families, and communities; empowering individuals to learn, grow, take a stand, and become; and advocating for racial justice, civil rights, the empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls, and the health and safety of women and girls.
The event was held at the River Crest Golf Club and Preserve, Phoenixville. I had the absolute pleasure of being a part of this event as its Photographer. My experience was to say the least, moving and empowering! To see all these women of different cultural, ethnic, and professional backgrounds coming together for one common cause was and remains a blessing.
Listening to both the stories of Keynote Speaker Marjorie Margolies the founding President of Women’s Campaign International (WIC) and Mistress of Ceremonies Sherri Hope Culver, Director of the Center for Media and Information Literacy at Temple University, was uplifting and empowering. I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with most of these outstanding women and hearing why they give back to their communities, as so much of what they do play and essential part in the development, education, and advancement of the youth and women in their communities.
Each one of the nominees, nominators, volunteers, and award winners deserved to be recognized for everything they do and continue to do! I would like to thank Stacey Woodland CEO, Diane Lauer CPO, Lucretia D. Coleman Chairwoman, 2018 Tribute Committee and the entire YW3CA Board members and Staff for the opportunity.
